Niles Elementary PTA

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year

🐾 Bulldogs, You Did It! 🏃‍♂️💨

It’s hard to believe it’s been two weeks since our Bulldog Jog fundraiser wrapped up! Thanks to our amazing community, we raised over $70,000 in profit to support our school, teachers, and students.

Key Highlights:

Total Raised: $94,132.47

$10,000 in corporate matching secured

95% login rate (some classes hit 100%!)

Teacher Bonus – Each teacher gets 10% of their classroom’s earnings!

109 meals donated to Feeding America thanks to the APEX Giveback Challenge!

This year, we partnered with APEX, who managed donations, provided prizes, ran daily leadership lessons, and brought the fun – including sliming Principal Dorsey! (Check out the reel on our socials!)

While they kept a portion for expenses, they also gave back—our fundraiser helped donate 109 meals to Feeding America!

Once again, thank you, Niles for your incredible support! 🐶💙 #GoBulldogs #BulldogJog2025

Debate club volunteers Needed

We need your support! Our Debate Club, led by the Fremont Debate Academy and high school volunteers, helps students develop public speaking and advocacy skills. However, we cannot run this program without parent chaperones at every meeting. No prior experience is necessary.  Parents will just chaperone and Fremont Debate Academy will run the program with their high school volunteers.  If we are unable to meet this requirement, we will not be able to continue the program next year.

Your help is essential in making this opportunity possible for our students. If you're available to assist, please let us know—we’d greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for your support!

PBIS volunteers Needed

Our school continues to celebrate the positive behavior of our students through the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system! Every month, students earning PAWS tickets are entered into a raffle to attend special events hosted by our principal, Ms. Dorsey and we need your help to make these events a success.

We are looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers for the following events:

* Game Days with the Principal: Students play large versions of classic board games during lunch.  We need 4-5 parent volunteers to assist.

* Makers Space with the Principal: Students use the Makers Space to create STEAM inspired works. We need 2 parent volunteers to help students with materials.

* Movie with the Principal: Students enjoy popcorn and a movie at lunch. We need 2-3 parent volunteers to ensure a fun and smooth event.

These events are wonderful opportunities to support our students and celebrate their achievements. If you're available to volunteer, please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up.

Your Voice Matters!

We are thrilled to share that several candidates have already stepped up for key PTA board positions, which is a fantastic shift from previous years when filling roles was a challenge. 🎉 However, it has come to our attention that there are others who may also be interested in serving or nominating someone else.

In the spirit of transparency and inclusivity, we are extending the deadline for nominations to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to express interest in a leadership role. We recognize that this extension will impact the required 28-day notice for presenting the election slate, but we believe it is more important to allow all voices to be heard and ensure a fair and open nomination process.

✅ Current Candidates:

President: Shawna Johnson

Secretary: Carla Tucay

Auditor: Ramya Ramnath and Michelle Hong

Parliamentarian: Lauren Sasaki Kretsch

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for a board position, please fill out the form below. The Nominating Committee will carefully review all submissions.

New Deadline for nominations: March 25, 2025

Elections will be held at our Association Meeting on April 1st.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this process with fairness and transparency. Thank you for your engagement and for helping shape the future of Niles Elementary PTA!

about the pta

Niles Elementary has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that is well supported by the Niles community.  The PTA sponsors a variety of activities including parent education, fifth grade promotion and much more.

Throughout the year the PTA organizes and coordinates events and activities that help enrich the students academic experiences.  Volunteers can participate in a variety of these events and activities including room parent, site committees, Reflections, and more.

Niles PTA invites you to join us in making a difference in the education and quality of life for all our children.  PTA meetings are normally held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. virtually on Zoom (for now until we can return to the Library - P6).  All are invited and encouraged to attend!  You are also encouraged to join the Niles PTA e-group to stay informed with the latest Niles PTA related communications.

Donations always welcome.

Please consider becoming a PTA member

We are looking forward to a year full of new experiences and would appreciate having your support.

Fall Cash Drive: Annual Fall Fundraiser

The Niles PTA is requesting your financial support to help support teachers and provide programs to our students. We suggest a donation of $50 per family, but everything helps!
